Reviving a Porsche Taycan GT Turbo: A Masterclass in Paint Protection

When a vehicle as remarkable as a Porsche Taycan GT Turbo enters our shop, we know we aren’t just washing a car we are preserving a piece of engineering art.
Over the last few days, we’ve had the privilege of working on this stunning machine. Its striking purple finish is, without a doubt, the most sensational colour we have seen in our five years of professional detailing. But beauty requires protection, and ensuring this car stays flawless requires a precise, multi stage approach.
The Challenge: Protecting a ÂŁ90,000 Braking System
Before we even touched the paint, our primary focus was on the details that don't meet the eye. This Taycan is equipped with carbon ceramic brakes a component worth approximately £90,000.
Many detailers use standard acidic wheel cleaners, but in this case, that would be a catastrophic mistake. Those chemicals would damage the braking system instantly. Our approach is always tailored to the specific vehicle; by understanding the technical requirements of the hardware, we ensure that we enhance the car without compromising its integrity.
Our Multi Stage Decontamination Process
To prepare the paintwork for perfection, we follow a rigorous, non negotiable process:
Safe Exterior Wash:Â A thorough deep clean to remove surface level grime.
Chemical Decontamination:Â We target and dissolve stubborn fallout and tar spots that are invisible to the naked eye.
Clay Bar Treatment:Â This step removes any remaining bonded contaminants, leaving the surface perfectly smooth.
Once the surface was pristine, we performed a multi stage machine polish. This process will remove light swirls and scratches, effectively "waking up" the depth and gloss of that incredible purple paintwork.
Looking Ahead: The Road to Total Protection
We’ve completed the initial paint correction and an interior refresh, but this isn't the end of the journey. This Porsche Turbo is now being transported to a different location to have full Paint Protection Film (PPF) installed.
In 6 to 8 weeks, it will return to our shop for the final stage: a full ceramic coating application on the PPF, glass, interior, and wheels. By splitting this job into two strategic phases, we ensure that every square inch of the vehicle receives the ultimate level of protection.
