Owning a Porsche 911 (992) Carrera GTS is an unforgettable experience. However, keeping it looking factory fresh on British roads is a constant battle. You probably worry about road salt, harsh winter grime, and swirl marks ruining your paintwork. Fortunately, professional Porsche 911 ceramic coating solves this problem permanently. In this guide, you will discover how our Multi Day Ceramic Coating package locks in deep gloss and shields your sports car for three full winters.

I know you might be thinking that a cherished Porsche already has good paint from the factory. While Porsche engineering is world class, modern automotive clear coats are surprisingly soft. Therefore, a single trip to a local roadside hand car wash can inflict thousands of microscopic scratches across your bodywork.

At EKJ Valeting & Detailing in Bromborough, we believe your pride and joy deserves much better. Over the past few days, we welcomed an incredible Porsche 911 (992) Carrera GTS into our studio. Rather than rushing a quick polish and wax, we spent three full days transforming and armouring every single surface. Consequently, this car will leave us protected against everything the Wirral and Cheshire roads throw at it for the next three years.

Why Dealership Paint Protection Falls Short

Before we dive into how we transformed this Carrera GTS, we need to address a massive industry myth. When you buy a high end sports car, the dealership will almost always try to upsell you a "lifetime" paint protection package. They charge hundreds sometimes thousands of pounds for this service. However, there is a glaring flaw with the old way of doing things.

The Rush Job Reality

Dealership valeters are often given just two hours to prep and "protect" a car before handover. Because of those tight deadlines, they cannot decontaminate or machine polish the paint properly. Instead, they wipe a cheap sealant right over factory transport wax, iron fallout, and existing swirl marks. As a result, the sealant fails within a few months, leaving your Porsche vulnerable to acid rain, bird droppings, and UV fading.

Our Philosophy: The Multi Surface Opportunity

True automotive protection is never about the bottle alone, it is about the preparation. Our "Big Idea" at EKJ Valeting & Detailing is simple: a ceramic coating is only as good as the surface underneath it. Furthermore, protecting just the paintwork leaves half of your investment exposed.

Therefore, we developed our comprehensive multi surface approach. By spending three dedicated days in a controlled studio environment, we surgically clean, correct, and coat the paint, wheels, brake calipers, glass, leather, and interior fabrics. Instead of spending your Sunday mornings scrubbing stubborn brake dust or polishing out dull paint, you get to enjoy a showroom finish with nothing more than a simple maintenance wash.

Day 1: Deep Decontamination and Wheel Armour

Every elite Porsche 911 ceramic coating project begins with a surgical foundation. If you lock dirt or iron particles under a coating, the coating will fail early and look dull. Therefore, Day 1 with the 992 Carrera GTS was all about deep cleaning in preperation for the multi surface preparation.

Safe Wash and Mechanical Clay Bar

First, we performed a thorough pre wash and contact wash to strip away loose road grime. However, washing alone does not remove embedded contaminants. When you drive at motorway speeds, hot brake dust and industrial fallout spear into your clear coat.

Consequently, we treated the bodywork with chemical fallout removers before using a mechanical clay bar. This step safely pulls stubborn impurities out of the paint pores. Once completed, the paintwork felt as smooth as glass, creating a completely naked canvas for the machine polishing stage.

Wheels Off for Total Caliper and Barrel Protection

Next, we brought the Porsche inside and lifted it to remove all four wheels. Many detailers only clean and coat the outer wheel faces. Frankly, on a car like a Carrera GTS with massive open spoke alloys and signature brake calipers, that is cutting corners.

Here is how we tackled the wheel package on Day 1:

  • Full Arch Deep Clean: We flushed out the suspension components, arch liners, and inner lips to remove compacted mud and road salt.

  • Barrel & Caliper Decontamination: We safely broke down baked-on carbon deposits across the inner barrels and performance calipers.

  • Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour Application: Once bone-dry, we coated the inner barrels, outer faces, and brake calipers with Gtechniq Wheel Armour. This high-heat coating prevents scorching brake dust from bonding, meaning the owner can rinse the wheels clean in minutes.

Machine Polishing the Glass for Winter Safety

Before wrapping up Day 1, we turned our attention to the windows. Even new glass suffers from microscopic traffic film and water spots that cause wiper judder. Therefore, we machine polished all exterior glass to strip away any invisible haze.

Immediately after polishing, we applied Gtechniq Smart Glass. This hydrophobic barrier forces rain to bead up and blow straight off the windscreen at speeds over 30 mph. As a result, when the owner is driving in wet and windy winter conditions, visibility stays at an all-time high. With the glass and wheels sorted, the Porsche was lined up and ready for paint correction the next morning.

Day 2: Single Stage Machine Polish for Maximum Gloss

When Day 2 arrived, our focus shifted entirely to the GTS paintwork. Porsche curves especially those wide 992 rear haunches look best when light reflects cleanly across the panels without distortion. However, light scratches and wash swirls scatter light, making even a clean car look slightly flat.

Removing Swirls and Unlocking Clarity

To fix this, we carried out a meticulous single stage machine polish across every painted surface. Using professional dual action polishers matched with specific pad and compound combinations, we gently levelled the microscopic peaks and valleys in the clear coat.

This process safely removed light scratches and swirl marks without sacrificing healthy paint depth. More importantly, it refined the finish to a rich, liquid-like gloss that outperformed the day the car left Stuttgart.

The Crucial Panel Wipe Down

Once we finished polishing, we could not go straight to coating. Polishing oils linger in the paint pores and can stop a ceramic coating from forming a permanent chemical bond. Therefore, we performed a thorough panel wipe down across the entire vehicle using a dedicated alcohol based surface prep. By the end of Day 2, the Porsche was completely sterile, ultra-glossy, and ready for the main event on the final morning.

Day 3: Interior Protection and CarPro Finest Reserve

On the third and final day, we brought everything together. A true enthusiast cares just as much about the cockpit they sit in as the paintwork people admire on the street. Therefore, we started Day 3 inside the cabin before locking in the exterior finish.

Armouring the GTS Cockpit

Porsche interiors blend luxury leather with sporty fabrics and Alcantara. However, jeans transfer blue dye onto bolsters, and rainy British boots quickly stain floor mats. To prevent this, we deep cleaned the entire cabin and applied two specialised coatings:

  1. Gtechniq Leather Guard: We massaged this abrasion resistant barrier into all leather surfaces. It keeps the leather supple while stopping UV rays, friction wear, and dye transfer dead in their tracks without making the seats look shiny or greasy.

  2. Gtechniq Smart Fabric: Next, we misted and worked Smart Fabric into the carpets and textile sections. Consequently, if a coffee spills or muddy water gets tracked inside, the liquid sits on top of the fibres so you can blot it away with a towel.

Applying CarPro Finest Reserve to the Paintwork

Finally, it was time for the crown jewel of the transformation. For the paintwork, we selected CarPro Finest Reserve an elite, accredited only nanotechnology coating. Unlike consumer grade coatings you can buy online, Finest Reserve offers a thick, complex matrix that delivers extreme chemical resistance, water spot reduction, and unmatched candy like gloss.

We applied the coating panel by panel, monitoring the flash times under our studio lights before levelling it with high grade microfibres. Once cured, this coating locks in that freshly polished finish.

It acts as a sacrificial glass shield against road grit, bird lime, tree sap, and freezing temperatures. Best of all, this protection is not just for this coming winter, or even the one after that it is built to shield this Porsche for the next three winters.

How This Transformation Changes Ownership

Why did our client invest three days with us? Because time is the one luxury you cannot buy back. Before bringing the Carrera GTS to our Bromborough studio, keeping the car clean meant hours of stressful washing and constant worry about winter salt corrosion.

Now, the ownership experience is completely transformed. Because every exterior and interior surface is hydrophobic and slick, dirt struggles to stick. When the car gets dirty on a spirited weekend drive through North Wales or Chester, the owner only needs to perform a basic safe maintenance wash that we hand over to him. Every single time he dries the car, it snaps right back to this exact showroom finish time and time again.

Frequently Asked Questions About Porsche Ceramic Coating

To help you decide if a multi surface package is right for your sports car, here are the most common questions Porsche owners ask us at the studio.

How much does a Porsche 911 ceramic coating cost in the UK?

A professional ceramic coating package for a Porsche 911 typically ranges from £600 to £1,500+ depending on the level of machine polishing required and whether you include wheels off and interior protection. While cheaper options exist, accredited coatings like CarPro Finest Reserve require three days of intensive studio labour to guarantee true multi year durability.

Does ceramic coating stop stone chips on a Porsche?

No, a liquid ceramic coating will not stop high speed gravel or stone chips. Ceramic coatings stop chemical etching, UV fading, road salt, and light wash marring. However, if you want physical impact protection on vulnerable areas like your front bumper, bonnet, and wide rear arches, we recommend pairing your ceramic coating with our SunTek Paint Protection Film (PPF) packages.

How do I wash my Porsche after it has been ceramic coated?

Maintaining a coated car is remarkably simple. First, never take it to an automatic brush wash or a £10 roadside sponge wash, as harsh traffic film chemicals will degrade the coating. Instead, use a touchless snow foam pre-wash (such as Bilt Hamber Touch Less), rinse thoroughly, and follow up with a pH neutral shampoo using the two bucket method and a soft microfibre drying towel. When you collect your car from us, we walk you through the exact routine and hand you a wash guide so you cannot go wrong.

Can you ceramic coat a brand new Porsche straight from the dealership?

Yes, and that is actually the best time to do it! Instruct your Porsche Centre not to wash or apply their dealership sealant before collection. Bring the vehicle straight to our studio in Bromborough so we can safely decontaminate the transport fallout, refine the factory paint with a single stage polish, and lock in the pristine finish from mile one.
