The Problem with "New" Paint

We recently worked on a 73-plate Honda Civic with less than 5,000 miles on the clock that was suffering from poor paintwork. This is a common issue with ex-demo vehicles or those that have been subjected to improper washing techniques, like automated car washes or poor detailing at the dealership.

Using an inspection light—which simulates direct sunlight—we could clearly see the damage, including heavy swirls, chemical burns, and oxidation. These imperfections are often caused by dirty wash mitts, poor wash techniques and automated car washes. In some cases they will try and posh defects out themselves. Applying too much pressure during polishing, using the incorrect machine, pad and compound. Which is why a professional service is crucial.
