More Than Just a Wash: The Ultimate Protection for Your Vehicle
Most people believe that a car is at its best when it first leaves the showroom. But what if we told you that even a seemingly clean vehicle is hiding a multitude of contaminants, from microscopic iron particles to bonded-on road grime, that are silently damaging its finish? This is the "big idea" that separates a standard car wash from a professional detailing service.
At EKJ, we don't just clean cars, we are specialists in automotive asset preservation. We unveil the hidden beauty and protect the value of your vehicle with a meticulous, multi-stage process. Our Story Today, we're taking you on a journey through our comprehensive multi day detail transformation of a stunning Audi A5. The is a couple of videos at the end of this blog for you to watch the process right the way through.
Phase 1: The Deep Decontamination
Every exceptional detail begins with a perfect foundation. Before any polishing or protection can begin, we perform a deep, multi-stage decontamination. We started by removing the wheels to gain full access, allowing us to thoroughly clean the arches and brake calipers. We then meticulously washed and decontaminated the wheels themselves, using a dedicated fallout remover to target and eliminate stubborn tar spots and iron fallout.
Next, we focused on the vehicle's body as well as the engine bay. We began with a pre-wash and a snow foam application to safely break down surface dirt. After a thorough rinse, we used soft brushes on the grilles and badges to get into those hard-to-reach areas. The final stage of decontamination involved a mechanical clay bar, which safely removes any remaining bonded-on dirt from the vehicle's surface. This process is crucial because it ensures a perfectly clean slate for the next phase of work.

Phase 2: The Art of Correction & Protection
With the vehicle's paint now surgically clean, we began the next phase. After taking paint depth readings to ensure the paintwork was suitable for machine polishing, we started a single-stage machine polish. Using a full range of machines, from a 1-inch detail polisher for intricate areas to a 5-inch machine for the main panels, we meticulously removed light scratches and swirls, revealing a deep, vibrant gloss. We also machine-polished the glass in preparation for its own two-year ceramic coating.
Once the polishing was complete, we panel-wiped the vehicle to make it surgically clean and remove any residual polishing oils. This step is essential as it prepares the surface for the long-term protection of a 3-year warranted, accredited, ceramic coating. We meticulously applied the coating to the paintwork, wheels (both faces and barrels), exhaust tips, and even the textured plastics, ensuring comprehensive protection. We then carefully levelled the coating off to ensure a perfect, high-gloss finish. Ceramic Coating

The Final Result: A Box-Fresh Finish, Inside and Out
Our commitment to a comprehensive detail extends to the interior. We used a steam cleaner to deep clean the seats, carpets, and door cards, ensuring every surface was sanitized and fresh. To protect the interior from future spills and stains, we applied Gtechniq Smart Fabric to the fabric surfaces and Gtechniq Leather Guard to the leather. We meticulously worked in between every crevice to make sure every inch of the car was "box fresh."

The customer was keen to get their vehicle back, so we worked late into the night to complete the transformation in just two days. The result was a vehicle that looked and felt brand new, a testament to the difference that our meticulous process makes. As the customer drove away, it was clear they were extremely happy with the final result.
